We here at ‘We Like Tall Boys’ support every day’s ability to be awesome, not just Friday and Saturday. So guess who decided to down a tall boy at approximately 12:15pm on a Tuesday? You guessed it — Natalie and Erin.

Two fizzy, slightly explosive can openings later, we were ready to go. Did I mention Erin didn’t have any food in her stomach at the time? Whoops.

Beer Name: Narragansett Lager
City and State of Origin: Pawtucket, Rhode Island
Year Created: 1890
ABV: 5.1%
Cost: $15 for a 6-pack, or $2.50 for a tall boy

Natalie’s Review:

Taste: The first sip of Narragansett is pretty light and crisp. I also noticed that, for me, it gets a little sweeter the more you drink. Very delightful.

How Do I Feel? Pretty good, considering I was able to pound a pint in about 30 minutes. My stomach doesn’t feel super full of beer, so I was able to eat more Doritos — it was a win-win.

Also, can we just talk about how aesthetically pleasing this can design is? It’s a major throwback to some old-school typography and I am a HUGE fan of those little touches. Sidenote- Erin said the can reminded her of Christmas.

When To Drink Narragansett Lager: Honestly, you can drink this whenever. I think it’d pair well with some greasy food like a burger and fries. Or some Doritos. I really like Doritos.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10. The first couple of sips leave something to be desired, but the cost, overall taste, and ease of availability (at least in the ‘Cuse) make it a super solid choice. I’d have another tall boy, and unlike some other cheap beers, you wouldn’t have to force me to drink it if you handed it to me.

Erin’s Review:

Taste: This is my token splurge beer when eating out. It’s around $3 or $4 for a pint at a local pub and honestly, it’ll never let you down. Narragansett is that crispy amber color with a caramel smell and flavor, carrying notes of sweetness (just like PBR). It’s got more body than a watery bread frat beer, which makes it seem #worthit.

How Do I Feel? I always feel like it’s a treat when I have this beer. Look at the can! It’s a work of art. The biggest thing I feel when drinking a Narragansett is appreciation. Thank you Pawtucket, for birthing this brew.

After posting a picture on my Instagram story about this tasting, I got this text:

“GANSETT IS A RHODE ISLAND STAPLE.”

-From my boy Dylan Kim, founder of Brevitē Backpacks (LOL NATALIE HAS ONE).

When To Drink Narragansett Lager: Feeling nostalgic? Proud of an accomplishment? Generally pleased the way life is going and want to give yourself a liquid equivalent of a pat on the back? Crack open a Narragansett. You’re welcome.

Overall Rating: 9/10

Until next time, friends.

Cheers,
Natalie & Erin
