Voodoo Ranger IPA
Even though Halloween/Dia de los Muertos is over, I have a festive and spooky beer review for y’all.
Beer Name: Voodoo Ranger IPA
Brewery: New Belgium
City and Country of Origin: Fort Collins, CO
Year Created: The brewery started in 1991, but not sure when this beer was born exactly
ABV: 7.0%
Cost: $2.80 for a tall boy
Taste: When I told some friends that I was reviewing this beer, I got high praise. Apparently this is a crowd favorite. I picked it because it has a scary skeleton on it and that was on brand for the season.
Ok, so a few sips it I was punched in the taste buds with a bold, smokey, and earthy IPA flaves. Wow, this is a pungent can. It’s a super flavorful but not too overpowering because it doesn’t dry out your mouth. There’s actually a really fresh and clean aftertaste (in my notes, I wrote down that it tasted like cucumber, or maybe it was a cucumber sensation) to this beer that I really enjoy, and it makes you want to drink more in large quantities over a long period of time.
How Do I Feel? After a few sips, this beer hit me straight up in the head. This is an IPA through and through, with a strong 7.0% ABV. I’m feeling really taken care of on a cold, rainy, Halloween night. My hair has 4 different types of product in it which is making me feel like I have a rhino horn on top of my head, so this beer is my only solace giving me one way to loosen up from this gel headache.
When To Drink Voodoo Ranger IPA: If you’re looking for an IPA that doesn’t dry up your mouth with that skunky flavor but may knock you off your feet with a bit of a buzz, I would suggest Voodoo Ranger. Texan readers, the individual tall boys are up for grabs in the refrigerate beer aisle at your local HEB.
Overall Rating: 7/10
