A Schoolboy’s Fantasy — A Man’s Heartache

I wish we were ten years old. I could pull her hair.
Sadly, we are too old for playgrounds unless the internet can be considered such. It has similarities. A milieu in which even the most artistically disadvantaged can create bitterness at will.
The fact is this: author, poet, and creator has never existed. I live in the shadows of the demented schoolboy. Needing a fantasy, that delicately plucked rose, the ferocious smile, kissing with parted lips, not to be trusted.
She adored me at first, then sucked me dry of compassion, eating my pathetic poetry, spitting on my knowledge, and hugging my self-pity.
At first, she squatted on my thighs and spread her legs.
I never determined her wants, her hopes, and her regrets. I wrote notes and put them in my pocket; the slightest notion, the first silence, and since they came day and night, I searched for scraps of paper, a rubber band, a peashooter, the conker on a string, the penknife, all hidden in the old garments of my mind.
Finally, I abandoned the idea, scrunched up my notes, took out the peashooter, and fired my notes out the window.
Leaning back in my chair, I discovered the truth, hanging like a pickled onion.
She was just plain bitter.
