My 2025 Valentine’s Day poem

Hamid and I have been together over 34 years. Every Valentine’s Day, I gift him a new poem immortalizing our love. Each poem is a celebration of our love and life together.

The miracle of us is we make the daily conscious vow to each other, “I choose you.” Eyes wide open and with understanding, we deliberately choose the work of a relationship — and yes, it is work… rewarding work. We created 34 years of undiminished happiness, a life of joy in each other.

Hamid and I hold onto love and mutual devotion in this hard scrabble world. It’s how we get through the struggle together. Our love warms our souls against the cold hardness of this hurry-scurry world. This forever promise too is the miracle of us.

Loving intimacy beyond mere sex holds us deeply in one another’s presence. We are joined hearts in this life together. Our love thrives throughout all that life throws at us — always.

That is the gift… “The Miracle of Us.”

The Miracle of Us

Nestling in our love’s embrace
Soul to soul all the rest of our days
Together forever in each new day
We choose with every breath

Heart to heart in tender, whispered kisses
Our love speaks in comfortable silences
Reveling in the hollow of the years
Love wraps us soul to soul… forever

Enduring loyalty and sustaining love
Are ours ever and forevermore
Our love is the promise fulfilled
Home is found in you and me

This is the shining miracle of us
Always and always… together
The years fly onward in each other’s arms
Soul to soul… only ever for each other
