They say every journey has to begin somewhere. Like a mountain begins with a piece of dirt or something. An ocean boils drop by drop. Rainforests aren’t made in a day. A piece of sand is hard to find in a haystack.

We have these clichéd ways of talking about life that paints a picture of uniformity. Like if only we followed some path we could find our way there. To that place where the music died. Back to that perfect moment in the sun when we were laughing.

They say that people who do drugs are “chasing the dragon” trying to find some perfect high. Maybe everyone is chasing the dragon.

So many people seem so lost and confused yet so absolutely fucking certain of themselves at the same time. At least when it comes to shitting on other people. To criticizing them. Their politics. Their opinions. Their way of living.

The Truth is we are all these frail little creatures with barely a semblance of a clue. Billionaires and homeless people are inches from one another when it comes down to it. We’re just these little humans. Trying each day to make it through the day. To laugh a little more. To love. To find some kind of peace of mind.

Sometimes things seem certain. Like we have it all figured out. Those times might be the most dangerous moments of all. They are perhaps the most insincere inhuman times.

When we are honest with ourselves and one another we admit the truth that we really don’t know. We don’t know what tomorrow will bring. We don’t know whether we will win or lose. We don’t know if we can make it or not.

We only know we can give it our all. We can give it a shot.

We only have this life. Might as well live it full out. Even if there isn’t a right way to do it. We have to give it a chance.
