A Life-Changing Summer
by Amanda Collins

During the summer of 2014, I got an incredible opportunity: I was accepted for the Summer Leadership Program at Women Employed. During my internship, I was able to do front-line research, build my professional and leadership skills, and gain a stronger understanding of the barriers facing low-paid working women. And all the while, I was getting to know and work with seven other fantastic women and men who brought a diverse set of experiences and perspectives on social justice to the group.

It’s no exaggeration to say that the program change my life: today, I work at Women Employed as a Program Coordinator.
We’re accepting applications for the program now, and I can’t wait to meet our next group of summer leaders. Also, I’m excited to say that unlike most internships today, this is a paid fellowship; all summer leaders receive a stipend. This year, the program is generously sponsored by the Pattis Family Foundation.
