Our President recently gave a speech to our long-term teachers the night before they got on an airplane to go overseas. Here are two important points that he challenged us to consider:

1. Use your life to engage in the desperate plight of others.
2. Live on the edge. Refuse to play it safe.

“You only get one life,” he said.

Most kids are encouraged to dream big, to be anything they want to be, at least in America. But the things we chase are often not what we think they are. We chase a dream job because it provides money or status, not fulfillment and joy. We chase prestige and favor and fame or whatever defines success for us, instead of what truly makes our hearts come alive.

Let’s work together to find our heart’s true passion and purpose for our one shot at life.

At ELIC, we invite you to journey with purpose. Whether you’re looking for a summer experience, a five-countries-in-six-months adventure, an internship, a one-year trial, a two-year or more life change, or to sponsor a program, we believe that life is a journey, and that journey can be made with intention, passion, and purpose.

Investigate. Find out what it’s all about. Consider the possibilities. Dream big. It may just be a stop on a long road for you, or it could be the dream you didn’t know you had. Either way, we invite you to consider teaching with ELIC to make a difference that will far outlast your days on earth.

You only get one life. Don’t waste it.
