The 2018 edition of the Fotofabrika Festival is about to kick off in a a few days. It is impressive that Fotofabrika, a festival focused on photography with a stand, manages to last for already 5 years in a country where most people care about how expenssive their cars/clothes(insert any object here) look like and how will they spend the money that they dont have to paint their insecurities with glamour. But yet it is still here due to the relentless energy of a few believers and some symbolic funding.
Aside from the exhibitions my favourite part is the FotoFund. All the world-famous photographers who have visited Bulgaria at the invitation of the Festival will join their Bulgarian colleagues in talking to the camera about their journey. The programme includes interviews with Yann Arthus Bertrand, Christine Spengler, Erwin Olaf, Alex Majoli, Cristina Garcia Rodero, Chema Madoz, Boris Missirkov and Georgi Bogdanov, Nadezhda Chipeva, Vesselina Nikolaeva, and Pavel Chervenkov.
Fotofabrika opens on March 8 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
