What’s the story behind Contentful? What problem are you solving?

Contentful provides content infrastructure for digital teams to power websites, apps, and devices. Unlike a CMS, Contentful was built to integrate with the modern software stack. It offers a central hub for structured content, powerful management and delivery APIs, and a customizable web app that enables developers and content creators to ship their products faster.

What do you do and what makes your service exciting?

Companies like Spotify, Red Bull, Optimizely, Twilio, and Urban Outfitters rely on Contentful to solve the complexities of content management in the modern multi-channel world. The demand for a new way to manage content is in the numbers: the company is rapidly growing and has raised nearly $50M from VC firms including General Catalyst, Benchmark, Balderton, Point Nine, and Trinity. We’re a fun team of over 150 people from 40 nations with offices in Berlin and San Francisco, looking for more amazing individuals to join our team!

Can you describe the work environment at Contentful?

What’s the tech scene like in Germany? Are you happy to have your headquarters in Berlin?

Although we have an office and opportunities in San Francisco, Contentful was born in Berlin. Our office is located in Kreuzberg, ideal for cafes, street food, restaurants and the vibrant creative scene. The building itself was once a lamp factory — how’s that for inspiring ‘bright ideas?’

We can’t answer that (can anybody)? But whatever future tech looks like, we’ll be using it. Our current stack includes Node.JS, React, kubernetes, Ruby, Graph QL…and Slack :-) We work with software we enjoy. You don’t want to hate something you use every day.
