An interview with Zoi about what it’s like to be a part of their team

What problem are you currently solving and which projects are you using to accomplish this?

We create innovative enterprise software solutions for our clients to successfully master digital transformation. Hardware becomes more and more important as well, especially in the context of IoT. Our electronic engineering team works with software developers and the data team in an interdisciplinary way to explore new solutions in this field for our customers.

What do you do that makes your product exciting and unique?

We are a team of over 80 technologists. Nerds. Together we advise and support our well-known customers in challenging IT and technology projects. We combine entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm for technology and implementation competence. Our team is international and truly diverse. We fully focus on the use of the public cloud in the enterprise environment as well as new technologies and software development.

What specific technologies are your tech employees working on?

At Zoi, we are guiding digital champions with our passion for code, cloud, data, electronic engineering and creation. Our colleagues not only move between web, app and SAP but also combine software development, public cloud transformation and electronic engineering. Furthermore they work in IoT projects combining our expertise in hardware with our knowledge in data science and analytics. We simply like to solve problems — and we like to make use of the possibilities of the public cloud.

Tell us about the type of tech projects that your company has developed.

We are enthusiastic about customer added value but also about process flows. Tech projects at Zoi are about IT architectures, data, electronic engineering, IoT and of course cloud transformation. From the development of a new business model to technological implementation. So we also take care of the strategy and method consulting. And we do it all in the complex environment of global corporations. So it’s not just about technology, it’s also about culture. Change. And Transformation.

What kind of talent are you looking for?

We are looking for idealists, digital heroes, and visionaries who — just like us — believe in the potential of digitalization. We are always on the lookout for talents with tech experience and a passion for new technologies for various roles, e.g. full-stack, back-end and front-end developers, software engineers, devops engineers and system administrators. If you love to work on aspiring and sophisticated projects not seeking to code another dating app, Zoi is the right match for you.

Which skills are essential for those specific tech positions you are looking to fill — who is the “ideal” candidate to fill these positions?

That depends on the position. Overall, passion and curiosity for new technologies are really important as well as interest in working in interdisciplinary teams and for enterprise clients.

Can you describe the work environment at your company?

We know that we’re stronger together. And that every idea can be the start of something big. That’s why we actively foster flat hierarchies and build on the competence of each individual. We’re proud of the growth of our team and are open to every new encounter. Just as in our technological outlook, our internal focus is on people and their development. Which is why we’re always on the lookout for exciting people to enrich our team. What growth opportunities do you offer to your employees, is there anything in place for training?

We provide various training and certification opportunities, always depending on the role and expertise of the person. We also offer an onboarding week to our new colleagues to give them the opportunity to get acquainted with the Zoi fields and the culture.

Do you believe that your company provides opportunities for its employees to test and showcase their skills?

Definitely, every project is different and requires a different strategy and approach to solve the challenges. Life is full of choices. That’s why 20 percent of your working time at Zoi is always freed up for creative technological and methodical experimentation as well as sharing knowledge.

Prove that you’re “The One”. What would attract candidates to work for you?

We currently have three offices (Stuttgart, Berlin, Lisbon) and more to come. Most of the roles are offered at all the offices so that colleagues could change locations after a while if interested. We also offer flexible working hours, home office options, free Friday lunch, after-work and offsite events.

What’s your opinion about Lisbon’s growing tech scene? How is it influencing the environment at your company?

We have deliberately chosen Lisbon as our next location for Zoi. The city is very interesting for us in different aspects. It is a very young city with a high quality of life and the capital of the “Digital Nomads”, the Web Summit is located there and will remain loyal to Lisbon for some years to come. Lisbon is a city that is developing very well, especially among young people, and what’s happening there is now also being closely watched internationally. The region differs strongly from Stuttgart and Berlin, the perfect complement for Zoi within Europe. We also believe that there are a lot of tech savvy-talents around in Lisbon.

In your opinion, what is the future of tech careers?

Robots will take over of course ;). Until then… we build sophisticated tech solutions and be part of digital transformation.
