Surgical Science

In an elevator?

Surgical Science create training simulators for laparoscopy. We helped build a brand new cloud-enabled training experience with state of the art interface UX connected to their incredible immersive VR.

Background

Client: Surgical Science Sweden AB
Industry: Simulation for medical professionals
Delivery: UX Design, Product Design, Service Design, Development

Challenge

Surgical Science had a setup where simulators were accessed locally for access by trainers and trainees. This meant that instructors had access only by physically going to the simulator. There was no options to access training scores or usage statistics.

Solution

We started with a design sprint over a couple of weeks to map out the user journeys; find key areas to focus on and create the development sprint backlog. The aim was to define a minimum viable product (MVP) that would get the client ahead of competitors. The project continues in iterative phases as we speak.

Result

The result of a team effort, consisting of experienced developers, user designers and service designers, was a platform ready for the future and current end user’s demands. The trainers interface for planning and releasing curriculums is accessible from any device, the platform offers statistical data on a trainees progress and performance and it utilises gaming theory to challenge the trainee to improve his or her skills through more training.

A collaborative project with our dear pals at sister company Vinnter and the talented team at Surgical Science.

Are you looking to build modern services that bridge the cloud, a physical machine, fluid user experience and everything else in between? Maybe we can help.
