BlockParty is the past. Say hello to Kickback!
‘Blockparty’ was named by one of my colleagues more than two years ago. ‘Party on the Blockchain’ sounded catchy and fun, and I received a lot of compliments on the name — and to be honest I still have a lot of emotional attachment to it.
Fast forward to 2018, and the event space is now overcrowded with companies using the name ‘blockparty’ in some form. Along with my two co-founders, Jeff and Ram, we have the ambitious goal of taking our service beyond the blockchain and into mainstream mass adoption. It soon became clear: we would have to change our name to set ourselves apart from the rest.
Together with the Status Incubate team, we brainstormed on a new name and decided on “Kickback”. Kickback has multiple meanings. In our service, we literally kick back your deposits — sometimes even more than you deposited! Kickback also means a small gathering, which fits well with our event management domain.
A new name. A stronger commitment.
With Kickback you can also give back to the community. Our mission goes beyond offering an event ticketing system with depositing. We have the flexibility to explore different ways of pricing tickets depending on the attendee’s contribution to the community. We can make it easy for participants to pay tips or donate to charities. We also can help you share sponsorship with multiple like-minded events. There’s a whole lot of innovation we can bring to the space, and we’re here to help your communities help each other.
As we rebrand, we are embracing our new identity and looking forward to what’s next. We hope you like our new name and new look.
