Hi, I’m Marcia Asano, and I’m VP of Global Solutions at CPaaS unit

Hello, I’m Heather Arrington, and I’m VP of Support for Sinch Email

In our roles at Sinch, we’ve gained valuable insights into leadership and the impact of engagement surveys. These surveys go beyond mere numbers; they provide a detailed map for strengthening our culture.

For us, the true value of these surveys lies in their granularity. We don’t just look at an overall score; we delve into the specifics. We break down the data by location, role, manager, and tenure. This level of detail enables us to create tailored action plans that resonate with each employee.

One significant finding from the survey in our email division was the need for clarity in career progression. While we believed there were numerous growth opportunities, our employees were looking for a clear path forward. To address this, our operations team developed a comprehensive wiki that outlines the journey from one level to another, providing clarity to all. Additionally, we celebrate new hires and promotions during our all-hands meetings, reinforcing our commitment to growth.

Another important insight was the necessity for improved communication and direction from top leadership. To tackle this, our Solutions team organized all-hands meetings to communicate our vision, articulate our objectives, and ensure everyone felt connected to our mission. Transparency was at the core of our efforts to win together.

Despite operating in different environments, these commonalities emerged from our survey findings: the significance of career development and transparent communication.

Our advice to fellow leaders is straightforward: focus on a few meaningful areas where you can genuinely make an impact. Communicate your priorities clearly and consistently to your team. Transparency and accessibility are essential, particularly in a global company like Sinch.

Engagement surveys are not just about collecting data; they are about understanding and acting upon the unique perspectives of each team. By doing so, we strengthen Sinch’s culture, foster growth, and ensure that everyone feels an integral part of Sinch’s exciting journey towards excellence in our industry.
