There are many challenges to run a content strategy that works for your brand and that is also relevant to the consumer. In addition to producing posts that are able to entertain and engage, interact with your audience, determine the subjects and frequency of posts, there is still the technical work of choosing the ideal tools and digital influencers, and also using Facebook and Instagram Ads as effectively as possible.

In this article, we have selected a few points that we consider crucial to the success of a digital strategy.

1. Your content is only brand-related

Let’s face the truth: Your customers do not care about you, they care about themselves. We often forget that when we describe how wonderful our product/service is.

We all want to be creative and get millions of likes, but one important thing to have in mind is that nowadays, brands must be able to insert the product in a context where it contributes to the consumer’s life

So, do not talk exclusively about your company. Talk about the problems of your audience and the solutions your company may give.

2. You don’t adapt your content

Are you publishing the same piece of content in Press Releases, Corporate Communication, Social Media, Email Marketing, etc?

This is a primary error. Each channel has its own particularities and your strategy will not work if you use the same communication for all of them.

When in doubt, choose fewer placements to publish, but prefer quality communication. This will surely bring higher results. Context is everything.

3. You are not aligned with the buyer’s journey

Your content needs to be written thinking about the stage where your customer might be on the path of purchasing your product.

Is it an attraction related content (funnel top) or decision making- related (middle and bottom)?

4. You post too much (or too little)

It is known that frequency is one of the main parts of a successful content strategy, but also, posting too much may annoy your followers and create a bad experience. Unfortunately, there aren’t specific rules in this case. It is all about testing, observing and measuring the results.

How to deal with that then?

Create a content calendar, follow and maintain regularity. Develop publications, which are the main topics that will be addressed in your strategy. Remember to expand the universe of your content: a clothing store, for example, can talk about fashion, creativity, style, travel, sports… the possibilities are endless!

Your mindset must be focused on delivering good entertainment and valuable content instead of only offering the products. Analyse and understand who your audience is responding to your strategies. Analytics are here for you!
