Crafted with Care: The WEAROPAL Journey
At WEAROPAL, we are committed to ensuring that each piece of our wearable personal safety smart ring is meticulously crafted and responsibly sourced. This month we summarized some of the elements of the WEAROPAL development process. Below is a peek into the unique, sustainable, and ethical process we use to design and develop our product:
Made to Order: Every WEAROPAL ring is made to order, tailored to your ring size and preference for the stone. If you do not know your exact ring size, we recommend that you visit a local jeweler to have your finger sized. Alternatively, if you reach out to us at hello@wearopal.com and request a ring sizer, we will send you one to size your finger at home. We recommend wearing our ring on your index finger so that you can trigger the ring using the same hang (with your thumb) in an emergency situation. In terms of the ring shell, we offer our smart ring in seven different stones based on your personal taste: lab-grown opal (white, green / blue, and multi-teal), mother of pearl (white, yellow, and gray), and black onyx. This personalized approach ensures that each ring is unique and crafted with you in mind.
Eco-Friendly Molds: We use reusable silicone molds for each ring casting, which is a more sustainable choice compared to non-reusable 3D printed molds. Using silicone casting molds means that we can use our mold for multiple casting cycles as opposed to expendable casting molds that are destroyed in the casting process. This helps reduce waste and promotes sustainability.
Quality Materials: Each ring is cast in Argentium or sterling silver. We are committed to avoiding sourcing our stones from conflict zones, ensuring that our stones are ethically sourced.
Local Supply Chain: Our supply chain is proudly New York-based. Our circuit boards are sourced from upstate NY, while our ring castings are produced in the NYC jewelry district. By keeping our supply chain local where we can, we significantly reduce emissions and support local businesses.
Innovative Packaging and Shipping: We recently partnered with IN75, a sustainable fashion NYC leather goods designer, to create a stylish and functional ring pouch for our smart rings. This pouch is a sustainable alternative to traditional paper or plastic boxes, allowing you to keep your safety ring in your handbag or backpack when not in use. For shipping, we use reusable and recyclable kraft paper for our mailer boxes and crinkle paper for the rest of our packaging. While our packaging is minimal, we believe that prioritizing the environment doesn’t mean sacrificing style.
