Weaver Labs, in partnership with Colt Technology Services and CIN, as well as technology providers Radisys, Benetel and D-Link, is excited to announce our latest trial project, which will deliver a groundbreaking 5G OpenRAN Fixed Wireless Access network that aims to showcase an innovative approach to providing indoor connectivity.

Through this trial, Weaver Labs will install an edge-cloud based 5G private network based on Radisys and Benetel technology, that will be utilised to support enterprise use-cases inside Colt’s UK Headquarters, Colt House. The network can then provide connectivity for surrounding businesses and homes alike using D-Link Fixed Wireless Access solution, making it a valuable resource for the entire community.

Colt will provide the fibre backhaul network, while CIN owns street-side telecommunications infrastructure through their Street Arc solution, making them responsible for providing all the necessary infrastructure.

Weaver Labs’ Cell-Stack will be the crucial management and monitoring tool for the 5G private network, helping with infrastructure management and orchestration for bare-metal, virtual networks, and power management. Whilst we will also test our novel software for edge-cloud power management.

This partnership marks an exciting step forward in developing Cell-Stack to support open architectures like 5G OpenRAN technology. In this trial, the use of OpenRAN is key to justify the investment in dense urban environments and has the potential to revolutionise indoor connectivity with minimal investment compared to the use of Fibre in the Home. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project in the coming months, as we work towards providing better connectivity for all.
