The average person today is said to be exposed to as much information in the course of one day as someone in the 15th century would encounter in their entire life. You may have started the day by opening up social media and began your daily consumption of information while still in bed. Let’s take a look at how social media has changed the way we share knowledge.

Knowledge sharing and management is important for us to:

  • Help employees understand the processes in their work environment, and
  • Effectively deal with customers’ inquiries, and
  • Enable faster and better decision making

Communicate instantly anytime, anywhere.

More clear now than ever is how digital communication has become an almost inseparable part of our lives. In 2016, people spent an estimated 163 billion minutes on conference calls. Nowadays it’s almost impossible to imagine a world without instant communication. This is helpful for companies to produce timely information and proactive support for their customers.

The problem: However, there’s such a thing as over-communication. Contrary to what most people would believe, too much communication can actually hinder efficiency. Think of it like a clear pond, where too much commotion can muddle up the communication waters. Messages are often lost in the pond and forced to be reiterated, sometimes too late.

New opportunities are everywhere.

Chances are, you or someone you know has landed a gig thanks to the power of social media. Getting your skills and strengths out there on social media is now an important step in every job-seeker’s routine.

The problem: At the same time, if you’re not constantly on the lookout for them, missed opportunities are far too common. Keeping tabs on everything is impossible without knowing what you’re looking for specifically.

Growing your network is easier than ever.

Your relationship network seems to be ever-expanding. With the use of social media tools like LinkedIn, adding someone in your personal network has been pared down to the simple step of clicking a single button.

The problem: On the other side of the coin, the simplification of the networking process has made meaningful connections seem impossible. In fact, most of the time it’s the little details that seem to slip away from your mind. Many have turned to personal directories that help you keep track of who’s who in order to fully utilize the potential of your network.

That’s why we’re building Weavit.

With Weavit, hidden connections between hard-won knowledge that normally remains buried deep within one’s mind can be discovered with ease. You can see how it works here by signing up for early Beta testing.
