Enhancing Your Story

  • Craft a compelling title and subtitle. Just like a movie’s title can draw an audience, your article’s title serves as the entry point. Use this tool to analyse your title’s effectiveness.
  • Images speak volumes. Select them thoughtfully, akin to movie posters. Don’t hesitate to use images, especially larger ones for statistical data, as they enhance mobile readability.
  • Incorporate Gifs for a clearer and bolder expression. They add visual appeal to your stories.
  • Content is paramount. Dive straight into the topic, elucidating the ‘why’ and ‘what’. Link to prerequisite information and related previous stories if needed. Be natural, illustrative, and use simple language. Even complex subjects can be conveyed in simple English. The Hemingway App can help assess the readability of your writing. Ensure proper punctuation and avoid pasting links directly.
  • You may include links to your websites or even affiliate links when relevant to your story.
  • Support your statements with statistics and sources. For instance, “The Internet has nearly 4 billion users.”
  • Give credit where it’s due and source your information. Clarify abbreviations with links, especially for less common terms.
  • Tags enhance visibility. You can add up to 5 tags per story, so choose ones that reflect your article’s keywords.
  • Embed media like Tweets and YouTube videos by pasting their URLs into Medium on a new line and pressing enter. For guidance on using bullet points and lists, read this article.

Please let me know in the comments if you have any questions!
