Diving into Sora — OpenAI’s Mind-Blowing AI Video Tool
10/10 will be using obsessively!
It’s hard to believe nine months have passed since I first wrote about OpenAI’s video generation tool “Sora.” I checked fairly regularly since then, but only recently was I finally able to login and start playing around with AI text to video. So, let’s dive into Sora!
For most people, I imagine the easiest way to start is via the ChatGPT screen sidebar. That’s where I first noticed the Sora menu item. If you’re logged into ChatGPT and click there, it default to your “library” page, like so:
There, you can see a handful of the AI-generated videos I’ve made thus far. There are a lot of ways to get going, but I really like the “Storyboard” button, so let’s hit that first and I’ll show you how I go about things currently.
As you can see, the layout is reminiscent of a video editing UX, which really helps drive the intuitiveness of the process. Clearly, you can start in a few ways, such as simply typing something. You can also mess with the various controls shown there to setup various aspects of your video:
