I never expected to write much about Netflix here on this crypto & programming blog. I guess it’s been a while now for me — maybe since almost getting an NFT project going with the Bad Vegan three years ago (to name another Netflix series).

The other night, I was watching Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Fenn’s Treasure on Netflix. I’ve always loved treasure stories. Maybe it comes from having grown up with the Raiders of the Lost Ark series, I don’t know. But, any movie or documentary about treasure always gets my attention.

Hell, maybe that’s why I love crypto as well, on some level. These days, Bitcoin is routinely referred to as “digital gold.”

God knows, I’ve probably said this here 100 times, but… I’m absolutely haunted by my memory of my friend Joe calling me back in the early 2010s, suggesting that I join him in mining this new thing called Bitcoin. He had amassed almost 800 of them by then — and they were worth probably under $1,000 in total (more like $62 million today, and BTC is down a lot lately!).

I think about that call all the time, almost to the point that I feel like searching through my old digital archives, just in…
