Decentralized Futures: Introducing Dot Play
We are excited to announce that Dot Play has been awarded a Decentralized Futures Grant, marking a significant milestone for gaming within the Polkadot ecosystem. This project aims to create a comprehensive and engaging platform that will attract and support game developers looking to leverage Polkadot’s cutting-edge technology.
Project Overview
Dot Play’s goal is to build a pivotal hub for gaming in Polkadot, by focusing on the highest growth genres within gaming, building essential integration tools, and by providing sustainable business development support. The project encompasses several key initiatives:
- DotPlay Gaming Portal: A hub to onboard game developers, offering comprehensive resources and direct contact with the Dot Play team.
- Ecosystem Support: Collaboration with the plethora of Polkadot Teams and agents to foster cooperation and support to build a diverse ecosystem for games in Polkadot, including live events and collaborations with other Polkadot initiatives such as the Indy 500 Polkadot car initiative.
- Technical Integration: Guiding projects into the Polkadot ecosystem by assessing Game Design Document (GDD) and developing the blockchain solution architecture , ensuring seamless integration with Polkadot’s technology stack.
Meet the Team
The Dot Play team is comprised of industry veterans with extensive experience in gaming and blockchain technology:
- Angela Dalton: CEO & Founder of Signum Growth, with a 20-year history in gaming as an analyst, investor, and board member.
- Nick Douzinas: Co-founder of Ajuna and a key figure in introducing Polkadot to the gaming market at GDC.
- Keshav Holani: Seasoned Analyst covering Video Games and Polkadot.
- Eliza Jäppinen: Head of IP Development and Developer Relations. CEO of Visible Realms, a gaming and entertainment company.
Deliverables
The Dot Play project aims to deliver the following:
- DotPlay Portal: A dedicated gaming portal to facilitate project onboarding and provide resources for developers.
- Game Advisory and Technical Support: Comprehensive support for game design and blockchain integration, ensuring projects meet the integration criteria of the Polkadot ecosystem.
- Ecosystem Tooling and Partnerships: Development of SDKs for Unity and Unreal, and other essential tools to support game development on Polkadot.
