Well, small and medium enterprises face a wide range of threats and are often at more risk than the large organizations.

According to the FBS, small businesses are at an equal, if not greater than the risk of victims of the cyber attack. Moreover, two-thirds of small firms in the UK were attacked by the hackers between 2014 and 2016.

And state of SMB Cybersecurity report says- 50% of small and medium-sized organizations report suffering from at least one cyber attack in last 12 months. And the average cost of a data breach involves theft of assets that cost $879, 582 and another $955, 429 to restore the business after an attack.

But what are the types of cyber attacks that SME’s face?

Phishing Attack

It is a type of scam where the criminals try to gain access to your server or network through email or other social online methods. Through phishing, a cybercriminal may have you to click on a link from where you can download a malicious element. Or that link can also take you to a fake website from where they will have you enter the personal details of you and your organization.

Denial of Service Attack

Distributed Denial of Service is an attack in which the multiple sources target a web server, the network device with a flood of packets that causes the target system to crash or slow down by making it unavailable for users.

One thing that makes DDoS attack effective is users mostly think that the surge of traffic is a result of the searches on the web page.

Ransomware Attack

It is the type of attacks that encrypts and locks down your device unless a certain amount of ransom is paid. Once the business pays the ransom, the encryption will be unlocked, or they will not unlock the device causing the company to incur other expenses.

Brute Force Attacks

Known as the password attacks, these attacks make use of the automated systems, such as a dictionary attack or rainbow tables, through which different password patterns are used to gain entry into a network.
