We are pleased to announce that you can now access segment statistics in WEBKNOSSOS. For scientists analyzing and annotating microscopy data, it is important not only to visualize segmented data, cells, contacts, synapses, or others but also to access essential information like cell count, the volume of the segments, their positions, as well as their bounding boxes.

Please note that this feature only works for data you have manually segmented. You won’t be able to get the statistics of imported segmentation layers yet — this will come soon! Now, let’s explore the two methods for accessing segment statistics.

Right-Clicking on a Group (in the Right Sidebar):

Simply right-click on a group of segments and select “Show Segment Statistics.” You will gain info on:

  • Segment ID
  • Segment Name
  • Volume
  • Bounding Box (Top Left Position)
  • Bounding Box (Size in voxels)
Right-clicking on a group of segments in the right-sidebar to access the segment statistics of the whole group.

Export these statistics to a CSV file for easy analysis in Excel or Google Sheets.

Opening the context menu

For a quick view, simply right-click on a segment. The context menu will open, providing you with information such as the segment’s volume and bounding box, among others. You can choose to copy a relevant number or refresh the statistics.

This new feature makes segment management and analysis straightforward. We hope you will find it handy! If you’re interested in additional statistics, please let us know.
