Now, all the basic stuff is over! Let’s move on to buying the domain name and the hosting.

Here is the step-by-step Guide on How to Buy a Domain and Hosting for WordPress:

There are only 5 simple steps involved in buying a domain name and hosting package for your wordpress website.

You can easily follow through the steps and register your own domain and purchase hosting packages for your wordpress website.

Let’s get started!

There are more than hundreds and thousands of web hosting and domain registration companies out there like Hostgator, Google domain, Godaddy domain register, Godaddy, Bigrock, Namecheap, Greengeeks, Hostinger, etc…

But, As I mentioned earlier, We found Bluehost is the overall best hosting company around the world.

Even the official WordPress recommends Bluehost.

You can also check out our comprehensive guide on “Bluehost review” where we will be putting the Bluehost into the test.

Now, Click the button below and follow along with me.

Get Started with Bluehost Now

That button will take you to the Bluehost Homepage.

Step 2: Choose your web hosting Plan:

Now, you will see a page similar to this one.

Click on the get started button.

Now, you will be redirected to the shared web hosting plans page.

Here, you can choose the package for your website.

You may be confused because there are actually four hosting packages to choose from. Don’t worry I got your back!

Basic:- If you want to host only one website then you can go for the basic plan. It costs you $3.95/month and it renews at $8.99/month.

Plus:- If you want to host two or more websites then you can go for this plan It costs $5.95/month and it renews at $11.99/month.

Choice Plus: If you want to host more than two websites and then you need some more extra layers of security then you should go with the choice plus plan. The Choice Plus plans come with some extra features like added privacy and security features. You will pay $6.95/month and it renews at $16.99/month.

Pro: Most of the readers won’t require this plan as this plan is for the most advanced users. Pro plan comes with more power and optimization resources. It costs you $13.95/month and it renews at $26.99/month.

Here is the Takeaway:

  • If you want to only host one website then go for the basic plan.
  • If you want to host two or more websites then go for the Choice plan.
  • If you want to host two or more websites with more security and privacy then go for the Choice Plus plan.
  • If you want more control on your website then go for this plan [I really don’t recommend this plan while starting]. Those three plans will work fine.

Now, at this stage, you would have chosen your plan. After choosing your plan click the select button underneath the plan name.

After that, we can move forward to the third step of this process.

Step 3: Choosing your domain and registering it:

After choosing your plan you have two options here.

You can either choose to get the free domain from Bluehost or else if you already have an existing domain then choose the second option that is “I have a domain name”.

If you don’t have an existing domain name then you can choose the “New domain”.

If you have already chosen a domain then enter it in the new domain and make sure you always have the .com extension as it’s more professional.

Still didn’t know how to name your domain name, then we recommend you to read our comprehensive guide on “How to come up with a killer domain name” But here are some tips:

  • Stick with the .com extension
  • Keep it unique.
  • Make it pronounceable.
  • Avoid numbers and hyphens.
  • Keep it short

At this stage, you would have chosen your domain name.

Enter that domain name in the new domain section.

Make sure that it’s available.

If the domain name is available then you can move on to the next step.

Also, if you registered your domain name in any other domain registrar like domain.com then you must change the nameservers at your domain registrar to:

But if you don’t know “How to change your nameservers” then I recommend you to check our guide by clicking here.

Step 4: Purchasing the Hosting Package:

This step is simple, but you need to be careful.

You just need to enter your name, address, phone number, email address, etc…

Also, make sure you verify every single information is entered correctly, especially your email address.

After finishing that part then you need to choose the hosting package.

You need to be super attentive here.

The 60% discount applies only for the first payment term, so I recommend you to go for long term 24 to 36-month plans.

If you change you will notice that the price decreases drastically.

Also, Make sure you deselect all the add-ons like Site backup Pro, site lock security, and Bluehost SEO starter tools. You don’t really need them.

If you have some money left in your wallet, then you can invest in domain privacy which is highly recommended.

If not then it’s alright.

Now, you have literally finished everything but I recommend you to recheck all the information above is correctly entered. After checking, you can complete the purchase.

By default, you can only pay by debit or credit card but if you click on more payment options, PayPal will appear.

If you have any issues or problems with their signup process or something else you can contact their support team from anywhere and anytime as they are available 24×7 just for their customers.

After purchasing your web hosting packages, you will see an upsell page.

Ignore this page by clicking on the “No thanks” button at the right bottom of the page.

After clicking that button, you will be redirected to a confirmation page.

That page will show the confirmation of the hosting package purchase.

Now you want to create a password for your Bluehost account.

Click on the create your password button.

Step 5: Setting up your Bluehost Account:

This is the final step of this process.

You can choose a password or you can type your own password.

I recommend you to set up the password really strong as no one other than you can access it.

Also, save the password in a file as you will require it multiple times so try to remember it or you can paste it into your own drive or on your notepad on your desktop or PC.

After entering a very strong password, click on create. That’s it! You had registered the domain name and then bought the hosting package for your wordpress website but still, there are some baby steps left. We are almost finished! [99%].

Logging into Your Bluehost Dashboard:

Check your Email Inbox, you will find a confirmation email with all of the login information for your web hosting account.

But remember, the password will not be there in that email.

That’s why I told you to either remember it or else paste it somewhere else.

This is for your security purpose.

Now, head over to Bluehost.com and then click login in the header.

Or else you can go to https://my.bluehost.com/web-hosting/cplogin and then log into your Bluehost dashboard.

Enter the login details that you received in the email.

In the login field, enter your domain name and the password.

Then, click log in.

Now, you will be inside your Bluehost dashboard.

The Bluehost dashboard is optimized specially for wordpress and it’s beginner-friendly.
