Hi, Marcello here.
It was 2013, and the idea behind WeClimb.it was born between friends that had rock climbing as a common hobby. The goal was to help the climbing community discover new places where to spend some time.

Back then, we had fewer platforms than today, and with WeClimb.it we wanted to aggregate, normalize and better organize scattered data, feeding a map with useful information on a single place.

We kind of achieved this goal, but we are engineers, not marketers, and we failed at spreading the product, hence, the platform never reached the number of users that we hoped for, but that was not a problem… we were still using it for our hiking/climbing sessions, at that was enough.

Today, 10 years have passed, and I’m alone writing this post and taking the (hard) decision to pause the project. I consider myself the father of this creature, hence I feel like the only one that could take this bold decision to shut the switch off.

I’m not sure if and when WeClimb.it will be back, and in which shape; for the time being, I just wanted to thank the thousands of users we had these years and the few friends that supported the project.

It’s time to sit back and take some rest.
