About The Wedding Report

The Wedding Report, Inc. is a research company that tracks and forecasts number of weddings, spending, and consumer trends for the wedding industry. The Wedding Report contains the only collection of wedding market research of its kind in the entire world.

What started as a paper company turned into a question about the livelihood of professionals and the wedding industry. Thru asking questions and collecting data, the first Wedding Report was published in July 2005 and sold to 100 folks and it was off and running.

Starting out, creating a paper company was something Shane and his wife enjoyed, but as they hit the 3 year mark, they were wondering when the profit was going to come in…

As Shane started doing research (and having a data/statistic background helps), he discovered a lot of interesting facts about spending and habits of the wedding industry.

His data collection comes from a couple tools and he ask couples to talk about their wedding spending habits throughout the process. This can give a more accurate picture of what’s being spent on what category.

One interesting fact we touched on is debt. Currently 80% of weddings are cash financed so no debt is incurred.

We looked at average spend, average size, and a handful of other keep points to think about. We also touched on ways in which you as a business owner can leverage the data to make smart decisions about your business, adding new services/products, or just understanding what you can expect in a year.
