Climate action social network WeDontHaveTime.org is delighted to announce today that one of the world’s leading experts in environmental communications has joined their team. British-born Nick Nuttall has led the communications and outreach efforts of two key UN organizations and was also the official Spokesperson for the historic Paris climate agreement of 2015.

From 2001 to 2013 he was Director of Communications and Spokesperson for the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

Here he spearheaded, for example, the communications supporting the global Green Economy initiative; several Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports and the creation of the global Minamata Convention on Mercury.

From 2014 to 2018 Mr Nuttall led the communications team at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change at one of the most critical moments in its history under the leadership of Christiana Figueres and then Patricia Espinosa.

His fascination with climate change issues dates back to his days as the Environment and Technology Correspondent on The Times of London from 1989 to 2000 covering such landmark events as the first UN climate conference in 1995 in Berlin.

Mr Nuttall covered such landmark events as the first UN climate conference in 1995 in Berlin and the creation of the first emission reduction treaty — the Kyoto Protocol — in Japan in 1997.

More recently, he has served as the Director of Communications for the Global Climate Action Summit that took place in San Francisco in September 2018 and as the International Strategic Communications Director for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in 2020.

Ingmar Rentzhog, Founder and CEO of We Don’t Have Time, said: “I am really delighted that Nick is bringing his wealth of experience, energy, creativity and extensive network of contacts to We Don’t Have Time as we evolve our mission and our impact to the next level of success.”.

“I am excited to be working with Ingmar and his team. We Don’t Have Time have a unique model combining their own social network technology with global ‘no fly’ events and broadcasts. Indeed, We Don’t Have Time lives and breathes the motto ‘Build Back Better’ by providing an exciting platform that connects everyone wanting to solve the climate crisis so they can work together to maximize their impact,” said Mr Nuttall.
