A Love-Fueled Sparrow Stakes His Claim
Atop a birdhouse of faded grey,
its entry squirrel- chewed,
a sparrow stakes his early claim
in language bold and rude.
All morning long, house- proud and tough,
a fearless foe, an ardent groom,
the love-fueled sparrow boasts enough
to lure a female to his room.
Together they build their careful nest,
protect their eggs, and with little rest,
embrace their ageless, ordained lives
of parenthood and worthy pride.
