Amsterdam Hidden Treasures
The Spui Art Markt, Begijnhof and De Papegaai
When I visited my surgeon this past week, I told her about my plans for an August Amsterdam Adventure, visiting interesting attractions and pretending to be a tourist in my own city. Later that week, I went to the spa and shared my plans with my physiotherapist. Both women had the same recommendations: go to De Papegaai and to Begijnhof.
The names of these locations were foreign to me. Not only had I never heard of them, but the words themselves were difficult for me to pronounce and, therefore, almost impossible to remember. When my fysio suggested the same places as my surgeon, I recognized the names and asked her to write them down. Both women told me these were hidden gems people don’t know about. My surgeon also mentioned that Begijnhof was very close to the Spui Art Market, something I had at least heard of before.
When I looked at the map and saw that they were within minutes of one another, I was determined to see all three today.
