Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
A golden subtle beauty
Sensation more than scream
Hilltop beckoning
Sunrise through oak leaves
A thousand shades of green
A woman passes
“Morning, morning”
Centuries of secrets in that small greeting
We are together
We understand each other
Field walkers
Crabtrees
I find myself
A stranger in a familiar land.
Thoughts from the first time I spent walking in the land of my ancestors — family on my mother’s side — the place felt strangely familiar —as if something ancient in me sensed that these fields had been home.
Or maybe, any open place with towering trees and golden sunlight across the grass is wired into the human psyche, and it’s not me at all. . .a common longing for beauty within all of us.
