Our March banner from Julia A. Keirns might seem out of place. After all, spring starts in March, so why have a snowy banner? Ah, but not all of us are blessed with an early spring. Many won’t say goodbye to winter until April or, maybe, May. Here in Florida, we don’t worry about snow in March, but the month can bring wet, windy, and volatile weather.

Winter in March can be so cruel. We desperately want to be outdoors with our fingers in the sun-warmed earth as we plant the flowers of May and the vegetables of June. But, dang, here comes another winter storm! Once more, we are prisoners in our heated homes.

Cabin fever is the result of a too-long winter that drags into March.
