Caught By Surprise

A Special Moment

Life had been so dreary of late
Leaving me feeling empty and dry
The world around me seen in black and white tones
Inside out weariness permeating my spirit
With indications of taking up a long residence

The occasion in question started out in an ordinary fashion
Without any hint of impending change
Simply another long morning walk
My dog and I doing our thing
My mind per usual was everywhere but present
Cycling between
Dreaming-Worrying-Planning
And hoping my dog would behave himself
When we passed other people with dogs
Surprisingly
This day he did

Then a pause
Followed by an awareness

At this very moment
I’m open to all of creation
A part of the whole universe
No barriers or boundaries
Transcending time itself
All life interconnected
Flowing together
The Kingdom here and now
As promised by the Source Of Being
