Cozy (Brit: Cosy)
February Weeds & Wildflowers Writing Prompt
I follow YouTuber Cecilia Blomdahl, who creates videos about her life on Svalbard, an archipelago near the North Pole. I am somewhat obsessed with her life, which is about as opposite to mine as possible.
For more than two months, in what is known as Polar Night, Svalbard is in total darkness 24/7. As hard as it is for me to imagine, Polar Night is Cecilia’s favorite time of the year. She likes making her home cozy with string lights and candles. In fact, cozy is her favorite word. Fires in a wood stove are cozy, coffee is cozy, reading while wrapped in a warm blanket is cozy, Christmas decorations are cozy, and warm sweaters, hats, and jackets are cozy.
February is unpredictable, but one can bet that any February in the Northern Hemisphere will range from chilly to brutally cold. It’s a good month to get — you guessed it, cozy.
I chose Jenny Wren’s coffee cup photo as our February banner because the moment I saw it, I thought of cozy. Thanks, Jenny, for letting us borrow your photo.
