Falling Words
A Poem
Words fall into my thoughts
Even as I enter,
Barely letting me find a seat
Before I must pull out a notebook
To let them tumble from my mind and across
The paper, creating a barrier
Between what unfolds around me, and what I should feel.
I sit in judgement, aloof, writing:
Beyond it all
Always on the outside
Watching
The shadows of the players cover me,
My voice never loud enough
To be heard in such an inflated space
Which snatches the air from all.
My thoughts are too many
To find a place in this ongoing game;
So I sit, and write,
In a time utterly my own
My dreams safely stored in another place.
