Find a Moment to Just Breathe

Finding positivity in a storm of darkness

I’ve not been in a great headspace for the last few months. I’ve had battles at work, battles at home, battles with family.

I know something needs to change, but that is so much easier said than done. I am the only one who can make those changes, and when you’re fighting through the storm, it’s hard to find clarity and make decisions.

Sleep evades me. I’m exhausted, but the moment my head hits the pillow, my mind goes crazy. I can’t stop thinking, and the negative thoughts about the situations I find myself in won’t let anything else in. Most nights, I find myself sitting on the couch, trying to find something to watch to drown out my mind.

I go to work and deal with all the mean, nasty customers who feel entitled to get their way. Now, not all customers are like this, but it only takes a couple for your entire day to be completely ruined. Add to this management who finds anything and everything to keep you from doing your actual job, and the frustration mounts quickly.

One of those days, after dealing with a particularly irate customer, I took a break to calm down and headed outside. I sat down on the sidewalk and took a deep breath.
