Finding Fifteen Flower Families Fast*

Mid-Winter Gardens in a Coastal Town near Melbourne, Australia

*I dropped the word ‘Fabulous’ from the title. Don’t want to gild the Lily.

Look, this is a silly game I made up yesterday morning to keep myself from going mad reading about the American election. [I’m with Kamala, by the way.]

My plan is to get out of my easy chair (bought for my 86th birthday) and take my phone out for a walk until I find 15 different species of flowers blooming in nearby gardens. My IDs are approximate at best. Here they all are:

1) Blushing Bride, Serruria florida, a Protea from South African. All photos by David Wade Chambers.
2) Grevillea
3) Daisybush. I assume these are varieties from the same species.
4) Acacia from Australia. By August, the last winter month in Oz, Wattles are in bloom almost everywhere.
5) King Protea: Small flower bulb and dinner-plate-size blossom
