Flowers

For a grandchild.

If you had a grandchild who wanted the world…

in a non greedy way, and was bored with humanity…

grasping at her door, stealthily trying words of seduction…

what flower would you buy her.

I chose words to describe her, like me, she has attributes,

which will aid her in life, and limit her in other ways.

she is ‘sharp’, ‘money orientated’ and spiky with rage

at times. Brought up my people who work hard, she

understands economy, she knows in a strange inner way.

The lot.

In the end, after seeing her again, I sent her a cactus.

It seemed the right answer, sort of quirky, sharp and spiky,

and it doesn’t need to know the answers to the economy.
