From the Thracian Valley to the Danube River: The Exploration of Bulgaria Continued
Week 33 of my life in photos
My friend’s visit stretched through this past week, and though I didn’t quite reach the step count of our first week of exploration, I very much stayed in the active zone. Since I’d planned to work for four days, we had decided to remain in Karlovo till Friday, so I didn’t have to worry about traveling while working on assignments and projects. That ended up being a great decision because travel between places in Bulgaria can be exhausting.
Staying in Karlovo for a few days meant that the first half of the week focused on adventures in the Thracian Valley and the Central Balkan National Park. On Monday, with only one easy work assignment waiting for me, I joined my friend for a long hike, venturing back into the Balkan Mountain. Choosing Karlovo as a destination during my friend’s visit wasn’t random. I knew we could easily access multiple hikes from town simply by walking up one of the main streets leading out of the central square.
How wonderful is that?
