From ‘Ugly’ Things ‘Beautiful’ Things Grow
A story of my caterpillar
Mother brought back a bunch of plants, as usual. Today they were bonsai plants. While planting, Mum struggled to find suitable pots for her new plants, she suddenly recognized a baby caterpillar right there on the branch. The tiny baby is probably double the thickness of thread, black mixed red. It leisurely gnaws on a leaf one by one, very diligently, it seems that its entire whole world for now is gnawing, gnawing, and gnawing.
It didn’t notice its mother was looking at it from the sky, wondering what to do with it.
It didn’t know her presence or what she decided to do, but in the days that followed its world continued with gnawing and gnawing.
Mum has been observing it for a long time. Every day, she gets up and says hi to it every morning, every noon. In just one night, it was twice the size of the previous day, so Mum’s plant was completely stunted, the green leaves gave way to bare, thorny branches. On the morning of the 5th day after taking it home, Mum panicked, thinking that it had disappeared. Suddenly, in the house, a baby caterpillar with red and black threads turned into big green cowpea. It transformed after just one night. This is the time of crisis for its Mum. Every second that passes, it digests a leaf, and her lovely plant becomes more and more…
