My First Present to Myself in 2025

Since I’m focusing on myself this year, I decided what better way to start the new year off than to buy myself a present.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to get. I stopped by the art store. Although there was a bunch of things I wanted to buy, none of them called out my name. I went to the book store. I found numerous books that I would love to have sitting on my bookshelf, yet walked out empty-handed. I went to Walmart and perused the kitchen and home aisles. Nope!

Home Depot was next door and I still had an hour to kill so I figured, why not? I think I walked every aisle in the garden center. I stopped to smell the flowers (literally), I looked over the seeds. I even checked out the indoor houseplant section (I don’t own any and probably will not until my dog is no longer with us).

Then I happened upon the rose bush display.

One of my main focuses for my garden this year is perennials. I want to build them up so that every year I have more and more and less work overall. There was something about the roses that really spoke to me.
