My Two Cities

This was one of the toughest years ever out in our other city, Black Rock City, in the wilds of the Black Rock desert about a hundred miles from Reno, Nevada. Like most of that part of the country, we experienced beyond brutal heat made even more difficult to endure since we live in a tent out there.

So there we were, helplessly pinned under that insanely hot sun and surrounded by belching, bellowing, stinky generators as all the camper and RV folks hid in their air-conditioned cans.

During Saturday’s 9-hour alternating white-out/brown-out, I was resigned to simply sitting out there with my goggles and waiting it out while muttering under my breath never again, never again, never again (Pro-tip: Tents are 100% intolerable during the day out there. If it’s 104F outside, I guarantee it’s 120F inside the tent).

Having survived that, the 8+-hour Exodus, and my traditional post-Burn cold, and now looking at the photos, do I feel differently?
