No Rational Explanation
A Very Strange Occurrence
He was there, and then he disappeared, somewhere.
This is a true story. Bear with me as I first provide the context for this mysterious incident which left me confused, and at a loss for any rational explanation.
My younger son had a medical appointment that was scheduled to last a while. My wife had dropped him off, and I had arrived to take him home. The parking lot is a bit odd, as it abuts a linear walkway that replaced former train tracks. There is no demarcation between where the trail ends, and the very narrow parking lot begins. When backing up out of your parking space, you have to watch carefully to make sure that there are no walkers or bike riders behind you. In addition, some people who work in the building take a break to get some fresh air and walk back and forth behind the parked cars. Given these circumstances I’m always on the alert, while waiting for my son, to notice if there are any people about that I need to be aware of when we leave.
Now, this is what happened. Looking through my rear view mirror, I saw a young man pass right behind my car. He was not more than a few feet away.
