April Weeds & Wildflowers Writing Prompt
I began meditating in March. Meditation requires focus on your breath. You narrow your focus to one thing — your breath going in and out. I started meditation to ease anxiety, and anxiety tends to focus on dozens of things. Your mind is scattered, jumping from one thought to another, one worry to another. You harness that craziness with meditation and breathwork.
In this multitasking world, we are often forced to tackle more than one thing at a time. I was a major multitasker when I was working full-time—well, more than full-time, sometimes 50+ hours a week. I prided myself on juggling tasks. Now that I am more retired than working, I can slow down, meditate, and try to concentrate on one thing at a time.
Ella Read’s photo showcases the idea of one thing — one flower — one sign of spring. Yes, a photo of dozens of blooms can be gorgeous, but there is something so sweet and special about Ella’s single flower. Only one.
That is the April Weeds & Wildflowers prompt: Only One. Just one of anything — a flower, a tree, a star, a cookie, a song, a word. Take a photo, write an essay or a poem, or draw a picture. The requirements are that you confine your focus to one thing only and use Writing Prompt Response as one of your topics/tags.
