On one of our outings this week, we drove past the place they make the turbines for the offshore wind farms. It isn’t easy to get a real sense of how big these giant arms are. I needed to be higher to get a proper shot. But even if we could have stopped, there is no good vantage point that wouldn’t have led to arrest if I tackled the climb. We were close to the docks here, and security is tight. I was only able to get the shot at all because, unusually, I wasn’t driving.

I find myself agreeing with Barb Dalton about the good and bad aspects of being a passenger, rather than behind the wheel:

On another journey, on another day, we took a different route through the city and were stopped at the bridge below. The lights flashed red, the gates came down, and people in bright orange jackets could be seen moseying about. At once, two of the cars in front of us did U-turns and headed off to find a different route. Another one left after about half a minute.
