Perspective
Weeds & Wildflowers January 2024 Prompt
I’m not one for New Year's resolutions. Seems like another path to disappointment. But looking at Penny Grubb’s photo, which she kindly allowed me to use as our January banner, I think of the word perspective, and perspective relates to resolutions, hopes, wishes, plans, and lessons learned.
When looking at Penny’s photo, do you focus on the sunset in the distance or the tree midway in the photo or the closer feathery plants? What is the first thing you see?
There is a lot of contention and bitterness in the world right now, and a big chunk of it originates in the very polarized United States. It’s all about perspective, isn’t it?
When the temperatures drop below freezing, do you focus on the painful cold or the beauty of winter? It’s all about perspective, isn’t it?
As I contend with a multitude of emotions about Ben’s passing in May, I’ve learned that my perspective often controls the intensity of my grief. It isn’t easy to control, but I try.
So, our January prompt is Perspective — what is to you? How can you apply the word perspective to plans for the new year? How does perspective play a part in your life and emotions? How has your perspective changed in 2024? Are you hoping for a new perspective in 2025?
