Photographs (to keep the moments alive)

I like taking photos. It’s not my hobby, though, but I have a deep appreciation for capturing moments and beautiful things. I believe in the importance of preserving these moments, and I share Emma Chamberlain’s perspective on the significance of photographs:

“Why do we feel the need to take photos of everything? Here’s what I think,” Chamberlain says.

“I think part of it has something to do with this fear of losing a memory. We’re afraid of a magical moment in our lives happening and us not having a permanent version of it in the form of a photo.”

Chamberlain continues, “Out of this, sort of uncomfortable fear, that if we don’t get it in photo version, video version, that it’ll be gone forever.”

Sometimes, I have a strong desire to share the photos I took that I believe are worth sharing with others. But since I’m not very active on social media, I’m unsure where to share my photos. However, I remembered a publication that accepts all kinds of photographs, so I’ll give it a try here.

Each of these photos is unrelated, taken on different days — or some on the same day. I’ll provide brief explanations for what’s happening in each one.

my niece — photo by author

I took this while taking my niece to play at the city park. Regrettably, there were no playground facilities for her to slide or swing on. Instead, she enthusiastically ran around, and I, exhausted from keeping up with her, decided to sit and watch her run while taking this photo.

artificial flowers — photo by author

I stumbled upon these lovely flowers while hanging out with friends some time ago, only to later discover they were artificial! However, their beauty remains undeniable, don’t you think?

a cat — photo by author

I love cats! There’s no particular reason why I took this picture. And the cat might be tired of all the attention and photos people take of it because of its cuteness.

the dessert and the dinner — photos by author

Who can resist the allure of ice cream and pizza? But that night, I indulged in dessert before dinner simply because I felt like it. Who cares about the “right” order of eating when you’re craving both of these delicious treats?

payphone — photo by author

Came across a payphone installation in an art gallery, titled “Call & Confess.” Unsure of what confession to make, I opted to capture a photo of it instead.

my niece while she was swimming — photo by author

My niece, again. This time during her swimming lesson. I can’t help but feel a sense of pride in how much my photography skills have improved over time — even though it didn’t last very long.

afternoon sky vs morning sky — photos by author

A familiar scene I witness daily, transitioning from a clear blue sky to a mesmerizing orange-purple evening sky — I apologize for any confusion with the photo order.

plants — photos by author

I have a natural inclination to appreciate and find beauty in everything, including plants. I take great joy in observing well-maintained, mesmerizingly beautiful plants. Yes, that’s me in the first photo.

Cathedral — photo by author

During a casual afternoon stroll in the city, I unexpectedly encountered this cathedral. While I knew of its existence, I had never truly appreciated its stunning beauty until that moment, especially with the backdrop of the afternoon sky.

blue sky one sunny afternoon — photo by author

I’m quite pleased with the improving air quality in my city as pollution gradually recedes, revealing the return of clear blue skies. I captured a photo to immortalize this delightful transformation.

birthday cake — photo by author

Last but certainly not least, my birthday cake! This celebration was a few months ago, and while the cake may look colorful and not entirely my style, I still adored it. What truly mattered was being surrounded by the people I love, and the cake tasted absolutely delicious!

And that’s a wrap! Please pardon my amateur photography — a reflection of a wanderer’s heart. I simply wanted to share some of my moments here.

Perhaps in the future, my photography skills will improve, and I’ll be able to share even more photos. Here’s to hoping!

So which of my photos do you like?
