Every week I go on trips out with the Caped Crusader — I would be in trouble if I didn’t— and this week was no exception, but it was busy in ways that kept me indoors more than usual.

Reflecting on the week during which I took these photos is like looking back on a different world. It’s good to set aside the current torrential rain, heavy snow, and storm-force winds, to re-live a gentler week.

Illness has taken a toll on the editorial team with whom I work, so those of us left standing were asked to take on extra. It’s odd to edit two books at once, and I wouldn’t usually take it on, but I was offered two very different ones and it has been fine.

My world shrank to this and this:

There were compensations. One book in particular is so good, it has been hard to keep my editing head on. I’ve had to fight against putting my feet up just to enjoy the read as I’ve been transported to the heart of the prison system and seen life from a very particular inside viewpoint — fascinating stuff.
