Seasonal Blues
Weeds & Wildflowers December Prompt
Blue is not a predominant color of the holiday season. That’s not to say it can’t be found in bulb form on Christmas trees or mated with silver for a Hanukkah decoration. It’s around but certainly more subtle than red, green, gold, or white.
Blue also isn’t considered a predominant color of sunsets. Yet, Anne Bonfert’s sunset photo belies that assumption. By the way, thank you, Anne, for providing our December banner.
Blue is considered a calming color, but it’s also the color of sadness and depression and signifies stability, creativity, and masculinity. In other words, blue is a little of everything.
What is blue to you? That is our December prompt. Take it wherever you want. Seasonal blues, blue skies, blue birds, bluesy music, the blues of depression, blue eyes, blue waters, and even blueberries. Stories, poems, essays, photos, and songs. Let your blue go wild!
Be sure to use Writing Prompt Response as one of your topics/tags. Keep in mind that our prompts have no deadlines or expiration dates.
I’d like to thank Dan Pfeifer for our November banner, and I am always grateful for my co-editors, Louise Peacock and Beth Bruno. And a huge hug of appreciation to all the Weeds & Wildflowers writers and readers.
