Spring is Sprung, The Grass is Riz

I wonder where the birdie is. They say the bird is on the wing
But that’s absurd —
the wing is on the bird.

I have no idea where that’s come from but it was something we always said when it looked as if Spring had indeed Sprung.

So I’m saying it now because that’s what it looks like around the neighbourhood — Spring. Although it is still very cold.

Very, very cold … One needs one’s own fur coat plus hats and scarves.

This on the left above might be Osmanthus, but I’m not convinced. It’s very cute, though, with masses of perfect little flowers.

Primroses! Definitely a Spring flower — these are lovely, too — just like the wild ones rather than the somewhat overblown ‘domesticated’ ones.
