Another birding escape
Last week I wrote about a birding trip I took with Gina when one of Ben’s daughters came to visit in August, before his fall in early September:
A week after that daughter visited, two more arrived. Again, I took advantage of the free time their visit afforded me and went on another birding trip with Gina. This time we headed to the St. Johns River at Green Cove Springs.
Gina grew up on a horse farm outside of Ocala, a city about 40 miles south of where I live now. She currently lives on 40 acres about 15 miles northeast of me.
She used to work side-by-side with her father on their farm, constantly immersed in nature. Her knowledge of birds is far greater than mine. She also knows excellent places for us to go birding. One of her favorites is the St. Johns River. She does the driving…
